 Apple self picking is possible starting August at Vergers Petit, with early varieties such as Melba, Sunrise, Paulared, Lobo...

Summer or fall, Les Vergers Petit et Fils welcomes you for apple picking of any of our nine different varieties.

Come with your family, your friends or with your lover to enjoy the great outdoor, the peaceful countryside and bite right into one of our tasty apples.

Estimated date for self picking: September 1st

  • Price for 1 bag: 15 $
  • Price for 2 bags: 25 $
  • Price for 3 bags: 35 $
  • Price for 4 bags: 40 $
  • Price for 5 bags: 50 $ plus 1 free bag

1 bag gives approximately 18 pounds of apples

Many apple varieties are available, each tasting better than the other: Melba, Sunrise, Paulared, Lobo, McIntosh, Spartan, Cortland, Empire et Honeycrisp.

Come spend a memorable day at Vergers Petit et fils located at the base of mont Saint-Hilaire. On the menu: apple self picking directly from the trees, trator ride, farm animals, etc.

More ecological Using predatory insects (acarids), a technique developped by the Petit family, we are one of the first orchards in the Quebec to not use chemical miticides for many years.

MELBA apples - September 1

The Melba is a mid-size apple of globular and irregular shape. The color goes from yellow to light green with a red blush to completely red. Uneven ripeness on tree. Bruises very easily.

It's mainly used for jam, stewed fruits, soup and purée since it breaks apart easily when cooked. It can be preserved about 2 weeks at 0ºC.

The Sunrise has a really sweet flavour and a fairly juicy crisp pulp. Exquisite crunchy apple.

PAULARED apples - September 1

Paulared is the first of the late variety produced in the Quebec. Red apple on a yellow-green backdrop, it's crisp, juicy, acid and moderately sweet. An excellent crunchy apple that can also be used for cooking.

Pomme Lobo

Pommes LOBO - September 1

The Lobo is a big globular and irregular apple, of a yellowish green colour with red stripes. It resist well to cold despite a thin skin.

It's a crunchy apple with soft pulp, perfumed, acid and moderately sweet. You can keep it for about 4 weeks at 0° C., but it loose its colour with time.

Pomme McIntosh

MCINTOSH apples - September 10th

The McIntoshM is a green skin aple with a bright red side. Pulp is white, slightly acid and sweet when ripe. It's best to eaten fresh, in pie, in a salad or en purée. Available from mid-September to April. The perfect lunch!

Pomme Spartan

SPARTAN apples - September 24th

Mid-size fruit, round, red wash colour. The cream white pulp is crispy, slightly perfumed and lightly acid. Eaten fresh, in a salad or en purée. The Spartan is available from mid-September to May.

Pomme Cortland

CORTLAND apples - September 24th

Mid to large sise fruit, round or conical round shape, streaked or red wash colour. Pulp is white, slightly acid and does not darken. Eaten fresh, in a salad or en purée. It's great in pie, for cooking of freezing. Available from early October to May. The Cortland is perfect for salad since the pulp stay white longer.

Pomme Empire

EMPIRE apples - September 24th

Small-mid to mid-size fruit, from round to oblong shape, dark red wash colour. The pulp is of a greenish cream colour, slightly perfumed and of a low acid taste. Empire apples are perfect for consumption when fresh and are available from October through June.
